Instafamous pup and very good dog Chloe the Mini Frenchie has died, Chloe’s human, Loni Edwards, announced via Instagram on Wednesday.
“She was an incredible pup and we’re going to miss her so, so much,” she wrote.
According to the post, Chloe was recovering well from a routine procedure on Wednesday, and was being held overnight for “observation and extra safety.” While at the animal hospital, a mistake was allegedly made with an oxygen mask, which led to lung damage and put the poor pup into cardiac arrest.
“The staff there erroneously directly attached the oxygen to her, the pressure of which blew out her lungs, lead to multiple cardiac arrests and ultimately killed her. She fought so, so hard to stay with us, but the fatal error was simply too much for our little nugget to overcome,” the post reads.
The Blue Pearl Vet in Manhattan was unable to immediately respond to Mashable’s request for comment and additional information.
Chloe’s petite size and adorable nature launched her to internet fame in recent years, amassing over 179,000 Instagram followers, and a Facebook page with 53,759 likes. While her small size (Chloe was about half the size of a normal French bulldog) made her unique from the plethora of Instagram dogs out there, Edwards often dressed her pooch in adorable outfits and costumes.
Chloe was just 4 years old, and lived in New York City where she often worked with various fashion brands. According to Chloe’s website, the pup used her celebrity status to work with charities and benefits, including dog purses that hold poop bags and a luxury scarf line, both of which went to benefit the Humane Society of NY.
Chloe was slated to appear at PetCon next month in New York City.
Given the suddenness of Chloe’s passing, fans were upset while mourning the loss on social media.
