The story started when Audrey Wauchope, one of the writers on , accused an unnamed producer (who is now presumed to be Schwahn) on the first show she worked for (aka) of harassment, including unwanted touching and showing nude pictures of his girlfriend to coworkers without his girlfriend’s consent. What a guy! 18 members of the cast and crew wrote a letter confirming Audrey’s accusations, also claiming psychological, emotional, and physical abuse. Several of the women are reportedly “still in treatment for post-traumatic stress” and claim Schwahn threatened the professional advancement of another.
Schwahn hasn’t responded to any of the allegations, but a story corroborated by 18 other women seems pretty legit. He’s currently the showrunner of , so we’ll have to wait and see how Mark and handle this.
The three female stars of the show—Sophia Bush (Brooke Davis), Hilarie Burton (Peyton Sawyer), and Bethany Joy Lenz (Haley Scott)—all signed the letter. So before this creep ruins your favorite show, here’s what our favorite women of Tree Hill, North Carolina would say to other victims.
Brooke: “Life kicks you around sometimes, it scares you and it beats you up. There’s a day when you realize you’re not just a survivor, you’re a warrior. You’re tougher than anything it throws your way.”
Peyton: “They are people who hate, and they divide, and they feed off of people who don’t fight back. Yeah I could laugh this off, but what about the girl who can’t? Who’s gonna help her. Silence only makes them stronger.”
Haley: “You can choose to blame your circumstances on fate or bad luck or bad choices. Or you can fight back. Things aren’t always going to be fair in the real world. That’s just the way it is. But for the most part, you get what you give. The rest of your life is being shaped right now. With the dreams you chase, the choices you make, and the person you decide to be. The rest of your life is a long time. And the rest of your life starts right now.”
For now we’ll have to wait for more information to come out, and to see who else from our favorite teenage TV dramas will get accused of harassment next.
